COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL
Following last year’s tradition, Comic-Con International: San Diego’s Thursday programming schedule has arrived exactly two weeks in advance, and like always, there’s no “easing into” things with this event — a staggering 16 panels are scheduled for the very first hour of the show, with the doors of the convention center barely open. We had all of DC’s programming earlier, so here are a few selected highlights of what to expect on July 21. The full, massive list is here, and check back in the coming days for the rest.

10:45-11:45 Oh, You Sexy Geek!— Does displaying the sexiness of fangirls benefit or demean them? When geek girls show off, are they liberating themselves or pandering to men? Do some “fake fangirls” blend sex appeal with nerdiness just to appeal to the growing geek/nerd market, or is that question itself unfair? And what’s up with all the Slave Leias? Action flick chick Katrina Hill (ActionFlickChick.com) asks Bonnie Burton (Grrl.com), Adrianne Curry (America’s Next Top Model), Clare Grant (Team Unicorn, “G33k & G4m3r Girls”), Kiala Kazebee (Nerdist.com), Clare Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Nerdy Bird Jill Pantozzi (“Has Boobs, Reads Comics”), Jennifer K. Stuller (Ink-Stained Amazons, GeekGirlCon) and Chris Gore (G4TV’s Attack of the Show!) to discuss whether fans can be sexy and geeky at the same time — and if they should! Room 6A.
LIBERTY BELLE BALL
The Playboy Mansion opens its doors for the Liberty Belle Ball presented by the Marijuana Policy Project and GreenLife Medical Systems. As to be expected, the event is a marshalling of forces for the legalization of cannabis as a medicine, industrial fiber and alternative to alcohol. There will be special performances by Fishbone, celebrity DJs from Moheak Radio and Fire Groove; celebrity appearances from Adrianne Curry, Doug Benson, Chris Knight, Rob Van Dam, Tom Robbins, Kari Whitman, Slightly Stoopid and the cast of Workaholics; and, of course, plenty of bunny sightings.

ADRIANNE & CHRIS SPLIT?
Five years after tying the knot, Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry have decided to end their marriage, their manager, Phil Viardo, told Hollyscoop.com. "After starting a relationship with what seemed to be irreconcilable differences, the couple has reached a period where those differences are no longer appreciated," Viardo, told the site. Viardo added: "The decision was mutually reached after it became clear to both that some perspective was needed in order to assess their unique union… They still love one another but need some distance to consider their future." Knight, 53, known for his role as Peter Brady in the 1970s's hit The Brady Bunch, met Curry, 28, while they were housemates on the VH1 series The Surreal Life. Their on-screen romance let to their own spin-off series My Fair Brady, which documented their engagement, wedding and first year of marriage. As of Sunday evening, the former America's Next Top Model contestant had yet to address the split on her official Twitter page. "May 29, 2006 I maried Christopher Anton Knight," she wrote. ""Enjoy your weekend! I certainly am!" Earlier this month, however, Curry told Howard Stern she was "unsatisfied" at home and found attention via Twitter. The former model even confessed to using a Sybian machine (a masturbation tool for women) in lieu of sexual relations with her hubby.

“Hellcats” Has Been Cancelled, Series Finale Airs
We’ve got good news, and we’ve got bad news. The bad news is that The CW’s freshman series “Hellcats” has been canceled, as first reported by Deadline. The cheerleading drama, executive produced by “Smallville” star Tom Welling and Kevin Murphy and led by former Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka was one of Zap2it’s early favorites in the 2010-2011 season.

Unfortunately, the series floundered undeniably in its back nine episodes, relying heavily on gimmicks (like Zombies and musical numbers) and stunt casting (A.J. Michalka and Ciara) and shelving the intriguing love triangle that was the heart of the initial episodes.

With this cancellation, The CW makes room for three new dramas – “The Ringer,” “Secret Circle,” and “Hart of Dixie” – and (here’s the good news) can hang onto “Nikita,” its only other drama from the 2010-2011 season. “Nikita’s” first season ended on May 12 on a creative high, launching a bold storyline that will take the series in a significantly new direction for Season 2. We’re thrilled by this pickup and interested to see where it lands in the schedule, to be announced May 19.

The network’s other bubble show, veteran soap “One Tree Hill,” will also live on for at least 13 episodes.

Weigh in, Zap2it readers. Are you happy with The CW’s choices? Would you have preferred to see a different result .
