Tired Victoria Beckham fails to raise a smile as she leaves her Malibu home with baby Harper

By Daily Mail Reporter

She's had a difficult time of it after slipping a disc and being unable to pick up her baby daughter Harper.

So Victoria Beckham could be forgiven for failing to raise a smile as she left her Malibu home with her little girl yesterday.

The 37-year-old star looked grumpy and tired as she was driven around by her bodyguard on Saturday.

What's wrong? Victoria Beckham failed to raise a smile as she headed out with baby Harper Seven in Malibu on Saturday

Tired mother: Victoria has been having a tough time since the birth of her daughter with a back injury blighting her recovery

Going make-up free for the occasion, Victoria looked worlds away from her usual polished appearance, but showed off her post-pregnancy glow and enviably flawless skin.

Later in the day, Victoria hid her eyes behind a pair of sunglasses as she and her nanny stepped out with little Harper.

Wearing dark glasses, a plain green dress, and black cardigan Posh Spice appeared to have lost much of the baby weight she had gained before giving birth in July, appearing as slim as ever.

Flat out: Victoria and her nanny in Los Angeles with baby Harper Seven

Her nanny held Harper Seven’s baby carrier as they made their way to a business meeting.

Friends of the star said that wearing high heels in pregnancy may have led to the slipped disc.

She appeared at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton while expecting wearing towering five-inch Christian Louboutin heels.

Many doctors warn against wearing high heels in pregnancy as they can put excessive strain on the spine.

Victoria’s Caesarean – her fourth - is then thought to have placed her back under further pressure.

Now doctors have advised her that she cannot risk wearing the towering heels that have become her signature.

Since Harper’s birth, she has been resting at a home on Malibu beach, California, with footballer husband David and sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six.

Twitter: Victoria thanked her fans for their messages of support after her back injury

The house – which used to belong to film director Steven Spielberg – is being rented for £90,000 a month.

On Friday night Victoria thanked fans for their support on Twitter.

She wrote: ‘Thank u for your kind messages. I’m feeling much better and enjoying every precious minute with baby Harper. I’ m so in love. X VB.’

Victoria is expected to travel to New York – 2,400 miles away from LA – to attend fashion week there and take Harper with a nanny.

She will showcase her Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Last week David told of his pride that Victoria was breast feeding.

‘It’s so important that they have that mother daughter bond and breastfeeding, I think is really an incredible thing.

‘We’re in the process of putting it in bottles now so that means I get to feed her – which has been amazing.’

Harper Seven: Victoria may have slipped her disk wearing heels while pregnant with her daughter

Slipped discs are the popular name for a ‘herniated’ disc. This occurs when the discs - circular pads of cartilage which lie between the vertebrae, and responsible for cushioning the spine – become damaged.

Last night, a spokesman for Mrs Beckham declined to comment.

However, a close friend insisted to the Mail the medical condition had ‘nothing to do with’ the Caesarean section.

The Mail has learned that Mrs Beckham’s condition is being overseen by a number of specialists – and she currently cannot walk far, bend over or lift heavy objects.

The friends said: ‘Lots of women suffer bad backs during pregnancy for obvious reasons and Victoria’s has just got progressively worse.

‘She is seeing various specialists to help ease the pain and help increase mobility.

'She's definitely on the mend it’s just a slow process – so no walking, no bending or picking up heavy objects. She also has to have lots of rest.’
